Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup all-purpose flour

½ cup cocoa powder

½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas with the melted butter and mix until well blended.

Stir in the brown sugar until smooth, then add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, flour, and cocoa powder.

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and chocolate chips if desired.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are okay).

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious banana bread brownies!
