Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tbsp vegetable oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp oyster sauce

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp sugar

1/2 cup beef broth

1 tsp sesame oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with the soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining cornstarch, oyster sauce, sugar, beef broth, and sesame oil. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and let it sear for about 2 minutes without stirring. Flip the beef and cook for another 1-2 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef and set aside.

Cook Vegetables: In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring quickly to avoid burning. Add the blanched broccoli and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.

Combine Everything: Return the cooked beef to the wok and pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the ingredients evenly.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Enjoy your flavorful beef and broccoli!
