Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with half of the soy sauce (1 tablespoon) and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the beef broth, oyster sauce, remaining soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Stir until the cornstarch is dissolved. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for about 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring to get a good sear. Then stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 2 more minutes. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then add the blanched broccoli. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and stir well to coat everything evenly. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
