Ingredients

3 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well mixed.

Add the brown sugar and granulated sugar to the banana mixture, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix well until creamy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

Fold in the chocolate chips and, if using, the chopped nuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes | Servings: 12-16 bars
