Ingredients

1 lb salmon fillet, skinless and boneless

1/3 cup honey

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup cornstarch

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Salmon: Cut the salmon fillet into bite-sized cubes and place them in a bowl.

Create the Marinade: In a separate bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper until well combined.

Marinate the Salmon: Pour the marinade over the salmon cubes, ensuring each piece is well coated. Let it marinate for about 10 minutes.

Coat the Salmon: After marinating, remove the salmon pieces from the marinade (reservations for later) and dredge each piece in cornstarch until fully coated. Shake off any excess cornstarch.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium-high heat until shimmering (around 350°F or 175°C).

Fry the Salmon: Carefully add the coated salmon bites to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan; fry in batches if needed.

Glaze the Bites: Once fried, remove the salmon from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Pour the reserved marinade into the hot pan and let it bubble for a minute to thicken slightly. Add the fried salmon bites back into the pan and toss gently to coat in the glaze.

Serve: Transfer the glazed salmon bites to a serving platter, garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy them hot!
