Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper (red or green), diced

1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Salt and black pepper, to taste

4 hamburger buns

Optional toppings: sliced pickles, shredded cheese, chopped green onions

Instructions

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and diced bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until softened. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Brown the Chicken: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the ground chicken. Cook until the chicken is browned and cooked through, stirring occasionally (about 5-7 minutes).

Add Spices and Sauces: Stir in the Cajun seasoning, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Mix thoroughly until everything is well combined.

Simmer: Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Prepare the Buns: While the chicken mixture is simmering, toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a separate skillet until lightly golden.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add any optional toppings like sliced pickles, shredded cheese, or chopped green onions.

Serve: Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
