Ingredients

1 cup apple cider

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup whole milk

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

In a small saucepan, bring the apple cider to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until it reduces to about 1/3 cup (approximately 10-15 minutes). Set aside to cool slightly.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and egg until well combined.

Stir in the melted butter and whole milk, then add the reduced apple cider. Mix until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the donut comes out clean. Allow to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

While the donuts are cooling, prepare the coating by mixing the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a medium bowl.

Once the donuts are cool enough to handle, roll each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve warm, and enjoy your irresistible apple cider donuts!
