Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

½ cup soy sauce

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 green onions, thinly sliced (plus more for garnish)

1 cup cooked jasmine rice

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Optional: sliced cucumbers or carrots for serving

Instructions

Prepare the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, gochujang, and black pepper until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.

Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add the Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked beef, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, allowing the beef to soak in the flavors.

Serve: Prepare bowls with cooked jasmine rice as the base. Top with the Korean ground beef mixture and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Add sliced cucumbers or carrots if desired.

Enjoy: Mix it all together before eating for a burst of flavor in every bite!
