For the Cookie Layer:

1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/4 cup (155g) all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup (180g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium saucepan, melt the 1/2 cup butter over low heat.

        - Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

          - In another bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

            - Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

              - Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

                Prepare the Cookie Dough:

                  - In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

                    - Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

                      - In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

                        - Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

                          Assemble the Browkies:

                            - Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough on top of the brownie batter, spreading it out gently but leaving some brownie batter visible.

                              - Use a knife or a toothpick to swirl the cookie dough lightly into the brownie layer to create a marbled effect.

                                Bake:

                                  - Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                                    - Let the browkies cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

                                      Serve:

                                        - Once cool, cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your fudgy and chewy browkies with a glass of milk or on their own!
