White Cheddar and Spinach Chicken Burgers

Ingredients
  

1 lb ground chicken

1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped

1 cup shredded white cheddar cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1 large egg

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce, tomato, and additional lettuce for serving

Instructions
 

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded white cheddar, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and the egg. Mix until well combined but do not overmix.

    Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

      Preheat a large skillet or grill over medium heat. Once hot, lightly grease with cooking spray or oil.

        Cook the chicken patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

          During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of white cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the pan to help melt the cheese.

            Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the grill or in the skillet.

              Assemble the burgers by placing a chicken patty on each bun bottom. Top with lettuce and tomato, then place the top bun on.

                Serve hot with your favorite condiments and enjoy!
